What I do
All services →What changes for a UAE deployment
The UAE has more than one data protection regime. The federal Personal Data Protection Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, covers most of the country, while the Dubai International Financial Centre and Abu Dhabi Global Market have their own data protection laws and their own regulators. Which one applies depends on where a company is established, so it is the first question to settle, not the last.
For an AI system it matters in two places: where the model runs, and where the documents it reads are stored. A design that keeps the sensitive steps on hardware you control and sends only what is safe to a hosted model works the same way in Dubai as in Dammam. What changes is the law it is measured against.
If your company also operates in Saudi Arabia, the same system may have to satisfy two sets of rules, and serve Arabic-first users in both. That is cheaper to design for at the start than to retrofit. Running a model locally does not by itself make a system compliant in either country; whether a design is sufficient is a question for you and your counsel, and I say so in writing.

Questions
Asked before an engagement
Do you work with UAE companies from Saudi Arabia?
Yes. I'm based in Dammam and I have clients in the UAE, as well as in Saudi Arabia and Ireland. Engagements start with a few sentences by WhatsApp or email.
Which data protection law applies to an AI system in the UAE?
It depends on where the company is established: the federal Personal Data Protection Law for most of the country, or the DIFC or ADGM regime inside those free zones. Settling which one applies is a question for your counsel, and it decides what the architecture is assessed against.
Can the model run inside our own network?
Yes, for many workloads. Open-weight models can run on hardware you control, and a hybrid design keeps the sensitive steps there while the rest uses a hosted model. I test on your own documents before recommending either.
Do you work in Arabic?
Yes. I work in English and Arabic, and Arabic-first AI products are one of the four services I offer.
